I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, I'm pulling for Sanders so far. Sanders is a hard sell being a self proclaimed socialist. Kudos for the honesty, but that's a tough sell. I'm not sure he could win against someone like Jeb Bush who is moderate enough to pull some votes from democratic parties. Sanders would need to run against a more polarizing figure to have a real chance.
On the other hand... what if Trump is the republican nominee, and he actually wins. That's a terrifying terrifying thought. The only positive quality people attribute to him is "he speaks his mind". So does mufflover88 on youtube, the schizophrenic who hands out around my shopping center, and my nephew, yet I wouldn't want them as president either. Don't get me wrong, I want a president who speaks their mind. But, the "speaking your mind" part comes AFTER you've done a careful and thoughtful analysis of the issues. I think it was John Stewart who said Donald Trump is a youtube comment brought to life, and that's a pretty apt description.
So, I doubt he would be electable in the general election, and I doubt he'll even be in the top 5 of the primaries when all is said and done, but what if he actually did win, and we elected a president with no self control, no knowledge of the issues, no real plans, no research, and no dignity? I've never bought into the stupid partisan rhetoric. I didn't like McCain or Romney, but I didn't go around saying that they'd ruin the country if they were elected. But based on what we've seen, Trump is a candidate who could legitimately fuck America in the ass with a spike studded dildo. So, it's kind of risky that he's even in it.
But since all sides of our ridiculous partisan media is against him, I'm holding out hope that the fucked up system will actually work to the people's benefit this time.
