I am not saying the situation couldn't be handled better. It could have. Just don't storm out of your car and expect the policeman not to react excessively because they are "trained". Training isn't like the real thing. Some policemen will not take chances no matter what kind of training they've received.

Just like every job, mistakes can happen. Don't act in a way that increases the likelihood of them happening like this old guy did. Just behave yourself and control your temper, people, that's all.

obviously there are guidelines how to behave when the police pulls you over (and I don't doubt the guy learned these over and over and still failed to apply them) and it's in every citizens best interest to follow these, yet people here act like Police can do whatever the hell they want if you act differently, which sounds absolutely insane to me

police work is not about "taking no chances", people that think/act with that premise in my opinion should be kicked out of the force immediatly - an officers life is in no way more precious than that of a citizen, so shoving all of the risk onto the citizen while wielding all of the power and authority is injustice

in my opinion this situation was one of the easier chances to take on de-escalation tactics, it pretty much de-escalated itself and then he used a (luckily non-deadly) weapon anyway
