In the recent years Sony has closed some of their studios (Zipper, StudioLiverpool etc.) and cut ties with some 2nd party developers like Insomniac and most recently Ready @ Dawn. Buying a publisherespecially one like SNK that has become more niche and keeping up their employees is something that goes against what they have been doing for years now and still keep on doing. Instead they concentrate on 3rd party royalties and bribing.
