You see, like Halo, Gears was heading to be a totally different game than what it is today.
Mr Eric Nylund, a MS veteran writer (wrote Halo bible) penned down the characters and the universe of the COG soldiers.
MS gave Gears a more ambitious and single player blockbuster grandeur that we know today.
It was going to be just an mp game like Unreal tournament.
