The fact is having a 2-3 million a game franchis was a big deal to Sony before, especially since they thought it would continue to grow.  But now with 3m clearly being the ceiling for that franchise, and Uncharted selling 4-6m a game and TLoU selling 8-10m it is clear that killzone isn't big enough anymore.

GG was a given a chance to become the flagship FPS for Sony, and honestly they failed - and I say that as a massive fan of the franchise.

Well I dont think Killzone as at the bottom of the list of franchises Sony wants to continue. But its time they really make an effort to do something unique with that IP.

Killzone is a series with a cool setting and mediocre gameplay.

Massive disagreement there, but to each their own.
