FFVII and FFVIII were the high point of the series and FFXIII sold a minimum of 7 million at an upwards of over 8 million copies. Those are respectable numbers for a series whether you like it or not ... 

As for spin-offs such as FFXIII-2 or 3 then you may as well argue that FF went down the shitter with FFX-2 ...
