“We’re about growing our IP, this is a long-term decision. We’re going to take Tomb Raider up to the next level,” he added. “With Microsoft’s belief, passion and sort of muscle to help us deliver, we really think this is going to be an awesome game that people will enjoy for years and years to come.”

How does limiting  your potential buyers grow your IP?  Especially in Europe where the series is most popular releasing on distant second place platform.  I could get this argument going from exclusive to multi platform, but going multi platform to timed exclusive does not grow an IP.  Just be honest and say "We need to reduce our financial risk and Microsoft's backing the game via advertising and other aspects achieves that.  It may hurt us and lose fans, but we had to look at short term business realities on the viability of the project".

Going to be fascinating to seee how sales play out on this title over next two-three years.
