I need to visit your country and maybe Norway. The scenery and old architecture is amazing. |
Old architecture we have plenty of. There's many cities and towns that look like time stood still and are exactly the same as they were threehundred years ago, with defensive works intact and everything.
We are however one of the 'newer' European regions because technology needed to develop far enough to really begin doing something useful with our type of land, so most of what you'll find was built in the 15th to 18th century when the low countries started to prosper. There's not that much from the early Middle Ages, unlike say Germany, the UK or France , and almost nothing from the classical era. The scenery at places can indeed be very beautiful, but one should not expect impressive nature, because there hardly is any. The beauty lies in the way the land has been organised and how every field, stream and dyke in it is made by human design. Which makes it quite unique. I'd say early June is one of the best times to visit the Netherlands, when a lot of fields are filled with colorful tulips.
