Do we actually know these have been cancelled? Gears 4 could well be the main project for the studio but that deson't mean they've stopped all other projects. AAA titles can take time to develop before the first public announcement.

At best 3 were concepts,with Shangheist as the lucky winner until the Gears purchase put the kibosh on it. If you're looking to pitch a new ip, you make several concepts, you present them to your publisher and they decide which to pursue.
