Putting The Witcher aside for a moment, the standard for DLC was already set long ago by Fallout 3 and, even better, Fallout: New Vegas. I truly wish everyone had look at those and decided to emulate how much they actually added. Old World Blues is the best DLC I've ever purchased and could have been a stand-alone game in its own right.
Great examples of how awesome DLC can be are right there, yet publishers continue to out-source throw-away content. It's so frustrating.
