Right, i agree. But i still see people on here like "Sony need to sell their tv division!!11!" when it is profitable and creates a huge about of revenue

Yeah, one reason Microsoft tends to remain strong is they don't often wait around with dropping ventures that are costing them a lot and not panning out. It's simultaneously efficient, callous (to the laid off work force), and probably wise in the long run. If you've too many albatross projects around your neck no job will be safe.

Sony, especially in manufacturing from (certain) electronics to kitchen ware, might want to adopt that policy.
