I feel like MS doesn't think platformers are system sellers. They made Nuts and Bolts and it didn't sell well. More importantly, all the great talent at Rare is gone.

Rare was a secretive team. And some of their guys bounce back and fourth from the team.

Most famous guys like Chris Seavor and Gregg Mayles (DK, Banjo, Sea of Thieves).

Also talent is not a finite commodity in the video game industry.

Actually, I've only started saying it recently cause it's true.

Most of their employees went to Crytek I think 

Great talent is what makes a game developer good.
