Sega lied (good marketing, look how expensive our game is, its good you should play it).
They said Shenmue 1 was a 70m dollar project.
It didnt actually cost that much, it was actually abit below 47 million dollars.
...however... those 47million where NOT used on just 1 game.
That was the cost for makeing both Shenmue 1 & 2 (their combined cost was 47m), and for a unreleased port for the sega saturn version.
It started out as virtual fighter RPG btw....they spent 4 years makeing a virtual fighter rpg, and then ended up scrapping that, and makeing shenmue.
So reality check time.
They spent 47million dollars, makeing 3-4 games.
With sony takeing care of the marketing, and porting costs.... those 6.4million from the Kickstarter is probably more than people think it is.
It should be enough for them to make a good game.
