It's a different take on BC. One that will allow BC to come available in a console at launch without a lot of complications. May not be that consumer friendly but who knows. Maybe when Sony get back on their feet. They'll make the whole service free, part of PS+ or those games which you previously owned can be streamed for free. It's a very future friendly BC strategy.

That you have to pay for now. It's probably a great plan for people who didn't own a PS3 too, but it still kind of sucks to pay a fee to play games you already own. Granted, the alternative could always be drag the old system out and hook it up to play old games for free, but still a bit of a hassle.
