Genyo Takeda is fairly old, at 66, but I can certainly see him being promoted to CEO before standing in three or four years time while someone else is promoted from within. I didn't realise quite how instrumental he's been in designing Nintendo's hardware; everything from battery saves to the analog stick through to being lead designer on the Wii.

I think he and Katsuya Eguchi are more likely candidates than Sakurai. Given Eguchi has only been in charge of EAD for two years, Takeda is perhaps the most likely choice for the job.
