A perfect compromise would have been to first of all make sure that the game is going along smoothly during development ( and hence be a good game ) and that secondly they could market it here and there but not buy the marketing spots in every single major gaming website. |
Well again I am going to say the biggest mistake here is misplaced trust. Itagaki was a great developer before, they probably gave him the money and almost full autonomy and only recently realized just how badly things went under his guidance. If the game were unfinished, slightly unpolished, or had the other earmarks of just being rushed or modestly budgeted, yeah I would put 99% of the blame on Nintendo. But what is so far being described is a complete disaster. When that is the case, I think you have to put at least equal blame on the developers if not more.
