I personally wouldn't even consider MoP the best Metallica album. AJFA is my favorite, and I'd rank it pretty evenly with Rust in Peace. Never really cared much for Slayer though.

Slayer is overrated, they are cliche metal.

 

MOP is a masterpiece in everyway, AJFA is the weakest of the big 3 Metallica albums, many songs go on too long, there are a few forgettable songs on that album too. The mix of melody, thrash, lyrics, and tone in MOP is just off the charts. Agree to disagree on that.
