Well, everyone seems to have covered almost all the good games I would suggest... Almost every single game listed in this thread is worth the money. My only suggestion would be to shop on Amazon and look for decent sale prices (I usually get games 12-40 dollars new). Beats paying 50-60 at a store.
I'd also look into getting some classic Wii games if you never had a Wii considering Wii U can play Wii games. There are probably a lot of good deals on Amazon for Wii games right now.
