Most of my favorites come from old school games. Maybe it's just me, but I feel that composers had better melodic concepts back in the day.

Off the top of my head:

-The intro theme to NES Metroid
-Kid Icarus level 1
-"Eight Melodies" from Mother
-Mother's title theme
-SNES Starfox's orchestral theme
-Relm's theme from Final Fantasy VI
-End theme for Chrono Trigger (and practically everything else in Chrono Trigger)

I like a good melody. To me, a song is nothing without it.

I'd forgotten about that one!   I actually my Star Fox stages in Brawl to use the original SNES theme wherever possible.  The original theme is the best out of all of them and the orchestrated version is beautiful.

Right on.

As awesome as Starfox 64 was, I can remember being sorely disappointed that they didn't bring back the SNES theme for that game.
