At my job, I work 50 hour weeks on average, 60+ during crunch time. Since I'm salary, the amount of money I earn during those 60 hour weeks is the same as the 50 hour weeks. I haven't taken a vacation since February.

Meanwhile, in our German office, they are require to NOT exceed 40 hours a week, and they get the equivalent of 3 months vacation, as well as a ton of bank holidays. I swear, every time I need to talk to the ops guy in the German office, he's on a week long vacation.

Screw this guy and his warped notion that working longer hours = more productivity = more pay. From my understanding, research actually implies the opposite. Your productivity plummets when you exceed 40 hours and the diminishing returns don't make it worth it. But, hey, we're just salary, so it's not like the company has to foot the bill for the extra hours that are of low productivity. It's just gravy for them.
