I think the point of the OP is that Nintendo is struggling to put out a large number of "big" releases, it's not necessarily about the exact number.

To pick up the point Soundwave made in his last post: I wonder if Nintendo can develop more games for NX than they did for Wii U. I think the current shortage of first party software was caused by a combination of shifting resources to 3DS back in 2011 when that console didn't sell, their internal restructuring and problems with HD development. Maybe things will get better on NX if they enlarge their workforce and have a console that is easy to develop for and not too powerful (and more experience with HD development of course). It should be a wise decision to keep the console's power within reasonable limits, otherwise their resources would be spread even thinner.

I wonder how many in-house first party titles Nintendo released for Gamecube and Wii as a reference point. Does anyone have any numbers?
