1. More space...with most games now requiring HD space to play, you'll be able to have more games installed at a particular time.

2. More ports...the 40GB only has two USB ports which sucks when you're trying to play Rock Band. The 80GB has more than that (at least 4...maybe 6).

3. The 80GB is ps2 backwards compatible which is huge to me.
