Did Reviewers Screw Other games w/GTAIV?

agreed 100% and MGS IV is the main concern of this post. I feel like MGS IV maybe the one that is truly the perfect 10, however, since a site just dished out a 10 for GTA IV, they will nitpick way worse than any other game @ MGS IV and give it a 9.5 or something. They'll say something like there was some low res textures, so graphically its only a 9.8/10, while they let all the graphical errors in GTA slide. MGS IV I feel like is going to get screwed in the ratings department over GTA. Then people will say things like MGS didn't get the scores like GTA did, so its not as good of a game.

Why does it matter so much if people think GTA IV is better than MGS IV because of average review score numbers? Is it going to change your perception of how much you like either game? We can't always get what we want from reviewers. Sometimes we're going to have to understand that our favorite games don't always match what reviewers think. It doesn't mean bias, or falling into the hype trap, it just means there's a difference of opinion. I personally think Alien Hominid was better than almost every game release last gen, and reviewers wholeheatedly disagreed. Not once has that changed my mind with how good I believe the game was. Just learn to live with it.

MGS IV probably wouldn't have scored better anyways because GTA series has been better scoring ever since it went third person. Take a look at review scores:

GTA III: 94.9%
GTA Vice City: 94.2%
GTA San Andreas: 95.2%

MGS: 93.5%
MGS 2: 94.8%
MGS 3: 91.5%

Is it really out of the realm of possibility that reviewers in general just prefer GTA over MGS by the smallest amount? Don't take this as my personal opinion. I'm a Metal Gear man all day long over GTA, but I still undestand if and why reviewers would rate GTA as high as they do.
