I have to agree with simulators and sports.
Sims, dating simulators with anime characters, etc.
Most sports games are basically simulators as well. If they have a fantasy spin to it that makes them fun to play, I'm all up for them... Mario, Monkey Ball, SEGA, Wave Race, etc.
I also think that visual novels are unnecessary.
