In both of these game genres the object of the game is not to take part in combat, but to avoid combat for the most part.

Examples of each

Stealth - Metal Gear, Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed

Survial horror - Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Clock Tower

All I'm going to say is fuck you man! You can't do this to me! Both Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil are my two favorite all time series. You are an asshole for posting this! Seriously how could you?! Ugh the story and characters are phenomenal in both! At least Revelations 2 combines the best of both worlds! You better watch out because Barry is gunna back stab you while Natalia drops a brick on your head as SHE THREW IT ON THE GROUND. Snake will probably do some things with his "solid snake" to you. Though you'd never know because he's a ninja like that. Also if you think that's bad...... Wesker say's hi in advance.

ps. LMAO I don't actually hate you but damnit this is ironic!

Both genres are fantastic! Each of them have games that are great and others that aren't. The gamplay differs in pretty much all of the games in each genre. In many ways it's the characters and story that really pull me into those worlds. The games I mentioned above give me the option to play anyway I desire. I can play MGS without stealth if I wanted to! I prefer the stealth elements in Uncharted 2 and 3 than I do in Splinter Cell where I am forced to play by their bullshit rules. For me it's about the choice! The flexiblity in both genres and I will not pick one because I love them both for different reasons and on a damn near equal level! XD On a personal level this is a dick post, but it's a great thing to talk about! ^.^ So it's nice to see this! :) Btw you're awesome so DON'T get the wrong idea. You're still an asshole for making me debate with myself on this tho!

It's funny, I was trying to think of my 10 favourite video game franchises but I couldn't decide whether to put Resident Evil or Metal Gear into it.
