I would get that- Nintendo needs a do-over on branding and needs to re-launch without a GamePad. But if the device plays Wii U games and supports the GamePad we already own optionally - then it could be a platform to continue Mario Kart 8 sales - surely they aren't happy with 5 million. On the other hand, if this thing sells 20 million - that's great for Nintendo but lets not pretend that the Wii U and 3DS aren't dead- all attention goes to the NX at that point. If it plays my Wii U titles, I'll jump on the bandwagon, if not - I'd be hard pressed to not switch to a PS4. |
It not simple upgrade of Wii U, Nintendo said that is "platform with a brand new concept" and "we're always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person's video gaming life".
Maybe its handheld/home hybrid, I expect to have Wii U backward compatibility.
Wii U rebranding and re-launch in this faze would not changing anything, Nintendo would just through money in process doing that.
