They never said they weren't pursuing high specs. Miyamoto said he wasn't interested in having the best hardware. To completely different things. Nintendo aren't interested in a spec race. That's all.
The PS4 proves that $400 is plenty affordable. While I can see a $300-$350 system, a $250 console ain't happenin'.
