How much better do PS2 games look upscaled on original PS3 in HD?

Before anyone asks, I don't want a PAL backward compatible PS3 for 3 reasons:

1) Because their run was much more limited, the prices are much higher than the NTSC counterparts
2) The compatability is achieved via software, not through the physical 'emotion engine' contained in the PS2 and NTSC PS3s
3) I much prefer NTSC for old school gaming due to the 60hz refresh rate, faster frame rate and full screen aspect ratio. Whilst the PS3 is region free for PS3 games, it remains locked for PS2 games/blu rays/DVD movies etc.
