So the Vita is close to over taking the handheld market in Japan! (Weekly peeps! Weekly!) So was I right?

Both consoles are down in sales and I do not see anything that will change that trajectory.  Basically its all downhill from here, give or take a few blips.

That means, I think the 3DS will be _lucky_, extremely lucky, to get 80m lifetime sales. The PSV is the same with 15m lifetime sales (maybe 20m).  That's right, the 3DS will end with at max half the sales of the original DS.  The PSV 1/4 the sales of the PSP.  

That is pathetic. 

And no the other consoles are not yet dying because they are not yet in their full descent sales trajectory.  Though I do believe all but the PS4 will end with lower than their previous gen.  The Wii U will end with a very sizable decrease from the previous gen.

The whole dedicated video game market has shrunk sizably.

I'm sorry, but that's not pathetic. If anything, last gen was an anomaly. The 3DS is setting to sell about as similar as previous Nintendo handhelds. While the Vita is clearly a flop, it's also still doing better than previous Nitendo HH competitors.
