Their devices division has always been quite good IIRC, so I don't see where the problem is.

Investing in AMD does not mean Sony is focusing on profits ... 

I don't think you know this but AMD has had consecutive loses for a number of years recently so pouring a lot of money into buying AMD will only exasperate Sony's situation further ...
