It's good that you're saying that it is accurate. I don't want to be wrong when explaining someone else's beliefs. But, submission to one God is a theme in all of the Abrahamic religions, but the sense of the oneness of God for Trinitarians is different than people who reject the Trinity. As someone who accepts the Trinity, I believe that God is one in the sense that a husband and wife are like (See Genesis 2:24), my evidence for that, being that the word translated as "One" is used to describe the oneness of the flesh of a husband and wife in Genesis 2:24, and the oneness of God in Deut. 6:4. But non-trinitarians mean "One" as in "One. God is one. Not plural in any sense. All singular." But what I am mostly interested in is, why do you believe the Bible has been corrupted? |
In both Jewish and Islamic tradition there are incredibly strict rules when it comes to replicating the Torah (the first five books of the Bible) and the Quran, I believe in its entirety. The first five books are considered to be completely divine by Jews, and the Quran I believe is considered inerrant in its entirely by Muslims.
The Bible is a very different story. There assembly of the modern bible has taken place over hundreds of years. The church, over the years, has voted on what books to include or not include in the Bible. There are also books that are referenced by have been lost to time.
In addition, there is the issue of translation. Part of the reason Christianity spread was the decision to allow people to worship in their own language. This means the Bible has been translated, a lot, and we know that there are significant differences between versions. Even something as pivotal as the ten commandments vary between protestants and catholics. They can't all be right so at the very least, some of the Bibles out there are flawed.
So, even if we assume there is one version of the Bible that is the real deal, we still have half or more of Christians that are reading something that is at least in some part flaws.
