The game developer is the same publisher, that saves them some money; productions, distributions and store earnings shoul be around 12 U$, leaving 8 out of each copy to the developer/publisher, since the game already paid for its development and generated profits, this is just extra money for them and I am sure that a few may double dip.
For me is instant purchase for the Wii U, I hope that some other eShop developers (or Nintendo itself) does this very often, I hate digital only games.
