Interesting read.
I agree that eventually someone (other than Nintendo) is going to try and tap different genre markets (besides mini-games), and someone is going to hit it big. Games like Red Steel, which is a mediocre game at best, had decent sales, just showing there is demand for a FPS-ish/sword fighting game. The Force Unleashed might satisfy this crowd.
