Callahan points to the fact that Nintendo has trademarked the word Diddy Kong and that Retro Studios haven’t revealed a new Wii U game as evidence that the game is coming. At this point in time this news is nothing but a big fat juicy rumour.

OK... so is there anything in the story that is based on anything other than a guy's speculation on the basis of a trademark?

Kevin Callahan, about a year ago, said the game was in development by Monster Games and Retro Studios together, it had been in development for the Wii (back in 2006-2008) before being moved to the Wii U, and in doing this, he practically contradicted himself. Supposedly, the game was originally planned for Wii, and in development at about the same time as Mario Kart Wii. But he also uses the absence of Diddy in Mario Kart 7 and 8 as evidence after considering that he was in MKWii... but if they originally planned it for back then, wouldn't Diddy have been left out of MKWii?

I'm thinking this guy doesn't have any insider knowledge at all. He's suggesting that a game that started development in 2006 for the Wii, cancelled in late 2007 then revived somewhere around 2010, bumped up to Wii U, and in development since then... and now it's being delayed further for release on NX?

But that's not the part that is the biggest curiosity... he apparently, supposedly, has insider information about the PRICE of NX. Think about that - he's supposed to have some insider info on some American developers... and suddenly, he knows a piece of information about the NX that won't even have been decided yet, that is without a doubt not even under consideration by Nintendo of America, and even more certainly not known to those connected to Retro or Monster.

Oh, I should emphasise - it's not just the trademark, apparently. He bases his claim on the trademark, the suggestion that Retro isn't working on Metroid (which isn't actually what Tanabe said), and the fact that MuppIwata was holding bananas at the start of the Digital Event. And despite claiming that the NX games are being developed on Wii U dev kits, and that it would basically be a Wii U with "higher memory bandwidth and a more balanced CPU", he's claiming that the whole project was *moved* to NX, rather than just adding NX to the list of systems it would release on. Does anyone here believe that Diddy Kong Racing 2 would *require* boosts to memory bandwidth and CPU? If NX is basically "New Wii U", why wouldn't they just have NX-specific features available for those who play on NX?

In short, this Callahan guy is full of it.
