I would say the longer human civilization exists, the longer humans will have to realize that books from thousands of years ago, probably aren't the best compasses for morality (A 4th grader could rewrite the 10 commandments in a more moral fashion).

I disagree that 4th grader could do that. If they are taught nothing but the opposite of the basics of human morality then those are the 'commandments' he would come up with. The reason a 4th grader now knows about morality is those books which are thousands of years old.

Whether we agree with them or not they are the reason much of our social morality exists.

i think even children in the kindergarden could come up with better rules if someone destilles down their rambling.

dont take my cookie, dont hit me, dont kill the bunny, dont eat the yellow snow, dont call the kindergarden teacher mom, etc.

and NO, basic human moral has nothing to do with the bible.   you have to be realy realy realy stupid or mentaly ill if you need some fairy  tale to tell(not teach, tell) you that killing the person next door because they parked on your spot isnt  cool or good.

our social moral arent based on the bible, thats why we can live free and blacks, women, gays, etc arnt threated like streetdogs.

ohh an that we dont burn people anymore who dont belive that the earth isnt the centre of the universe
