Well, I think that 3rd parties have ignored the core gamer on the Wii because the industry is more focused on using middleware than developing their own engines and tools. Since there is no version of the Unreal 3 engine for the Wii, a lot of 3rd parties simply neglect the Wii. They either do not have the time, skill, or resources to modify the engine to work for the Wii.
Also, developers and publishers thought that the Wii would be a distant 3rd this generation and set their budgets according to that belief. Now that the Wii is successful, publishers and developers do not have the resources to adequately fund and develop a AAA game for the Wii.
