Big games take 2-3 years of planing and development of which the Wii obviously hasn't been out that long

Exactly. Because of that the Wii has seen so many shovelware, PS2/GC ports and minigame compilations. They are fast to develop. I would think that there are quite a few nice games in preproduction or development right now. But they won't come out for a while.

On the other hand I seriously doubt that quality Wii third-party support will ever be proportional to its userbase. Nintendo and casual games simply take the lions share of the software sales. I do not think that will ever change after all everybody always says that the Wii is a casual gaming revolution.
