considering WRPG fans just came out of something like this:

The ff 15 look is what i want from jrpgs , yes they are 5 dudes and it needed more females just to make it more balanced but its a great design, towns look fucking awsome, enemies too, then we have ff 7 remake that is on the right path and kingdom hearths artstyle is awsome too.

 

The witcher 3 artstyle is amazing too in character design. Its perfect for the game it is. Wrpgs  are nailing it, i love artstyle in mass effect, dragon age, witcher, deus ex, horizon. Its great

Not necessarily saying it needs more female characters (if the game is not about that, it's just not), I'm saying that, apart for personal preferences, IMO, for average mainstream western gamer char design like this is cool:

I thnk that JPOP/Emo really needs to go away from JRPGs if Japanese publishers expect western mainstream to pay more attention - again, without going into personal preferences and looking it strictly from "We want to sell more JRPGs in west" view, considering western audience have zero problems with something like this:
