I think public shaming is great form of punishment. Embarrassment is a great way to alter behavior. But as with all things it must be done appropriately, I would not suggest it as punishment for someone who is suicidal. And seeing as you can't beat your kids no more, what else is left? Embarrassment, locking them up, or let them run wild I guess.
