Just because Uncharted does a masterful job at making action scenes seem seamless between scripted events and gameplay that doesn't take away from the gameplay, the gameplay is there and it is outstanding. I love the freedom I have by controlling Nathan, I love that I can play stealth, go meele, take cover, change weapons, pick up shields, use ledges to surprise enemies by hanging, etc. There is a lot of care put in the gameplay for you to feel like you are PLAYING an action film by making transitions seamless between the different actions you can take with Nathan, instead of just feeling that you are watching a film. That epic car sequence came after this 2014 trailer that showed a lot of gameplay and a lot of opened spaces:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow2cL-pp6p8 You take your time justifying why people left Nintendo after the Wii by making a long list of possibilities, but then only come up with one sole thing immediately when it comes to Uncharted by claiming as a fact that people didn't keep playing Uncharted multiplayer for a single reason: that the third person gameplay isn't remarkable. That is very convinient of you. |
Erm, with action scenes I mean gameplay and not cutscenes. I never said Uncharted didn't have good gameplay.
But strip the story and action sequences away from Uncharted and you end up with the online portion of the game. Which isn't that great and there are definitely better multiplayer games out there (because they focus on it and Uncharted doesn't). I'm sure ND could make a great online shooter if they so desired to.
