It's not objectively true, it is an opinion. Games are striving for realistic graphics because they are detailed, beautiful, and a good indicator of improved graphics. But from there on, each game will add it's own artistic direction, which is why games don't look similar to one another. Killzone shadowfall is completely futuristic while Destiny sci fi. Both use realistic graphics, but I can most definitely tell those games apart. Do you honestly think that Horizon looks like Assassin's Creed? Do you think far cry 4 looks like Tomb Raider?

Miyamoto is just trying to insult the graphics in other games to get people's mind off of star fox's atrocious graphics, making him look like a sore loser

He's just saying that a lot of games look similar (and they do), so he likes to add his own artistic direction.
