I don't care about that, the question was whether they can be compared. Would anyone in their right mind try to compare a CRT tv that came out at the same time as a Plasma tv?

Umm ... They did it for a decade.

HD-CRT TVs were compared directly to their plasma TV counterparts, and reviewers generally pointed out that these CRT TVs were higher quality and less expensive than their plasma TV counterparts; this is (of course) before all the major TV manufacturers (virtually) abandoned CRT TVs

Ugh... whatever. You know exactly what I'm talking about, stop picking at strings. Wii is last-gen technology with a pointer. Comparing last-gen technology with current-gen technology is a pointless exercise and if either HD console embraced casual gaming, it has the potential to be better than the Wii. Any sales figure quoting is redundant in this argument.

How about I use a famous quote instead:

Perfection has been achieved not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away
-- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

There is an underlying assumption that a game is (somehow) dramatically better because it takes advantage of the newer technology which is not necessarily true ...
