I've been a PS/XBOX guy since last gen so yes, I believe both are better secondary consoles than the Wii U. Neither console is really my primary but each console has several must have games for me. Wii U doesn't really have must have games for me. It's library heavily skews towards platformers and eastern games(which aren't my style). While I like the occasional platformer, it's not my favorite genre and I can live without Mario. So while Wii U's exclusives may contrast more with XBOX and PS4, I'm just not interested in those types of games.

The other thing which isn't about exclusives is network effect. For the occasional online co-op game, I have friends split between both consoles. Having both allows me to play specific games (exclusive or multiplayer) on whatever console my friends are playing on. For example, my sports gaming friends play on PS4 while my FPS friends play on XBOX. That adds value to each console as a secondary console. That's something Wii U doesn't have.
