I think the WiiU is a good console. Missing third party support is a point, but I have a lot games to play on the WiiU. Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Smash U, Mario 3 D World and Donkey Kong are very good games that entertained me for a very long time. Plus there are very good versions of Batman Arkham City, Deus Ex or Splinter Cell, which used the gamepad very well. For me, who didn't own a Wii, the backwards compability is a nice thing and the number of interesting games is even higher. So no, the WiiU is, for me, not a bad console.
