It's a personal thing. I don't play online and I hate the feeling that there are others who could invade my game.
But if there is an offline mode, that's really nice. There are a lot of games out there that won't even consider offline gameplay.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
