I get all that, but I just don't see why I should care after the novelty wears off.

What i want to know is are there people to talk to?  Do they gives quests or requests?  Can I go on the main ship that is having a battle and ask someone who they are fighting and why.  Can I actually join sides and do something meaningful?

Feels like I'm just collecting resources to build ship ect to go to new planet and rinse and repeat to try and get to the center of galaxy.  Not talking to anyone ever.  Scanning animals and/or plants for no reason that I can see.  If I'm in space I randomly shoot enemies just for fun.

IDK, just feels like I'll visit like 10-12 planets and then be like "why am i doing this"  I need something to make me care, some connection emotionally or something.  It just feels like a mobil game otherwise, wher eyou basically just collecting resources and building, but in this case building is your ship to travel.

YOU are the motivation and YOU are the story. It's about that feeling of being a kid again in a world you want to explore but in order to explore you have to come to terms with the restrictions and limitations put upon you my life and society. Can't you remember being a kid and not needing a goal to explore? Can't you remember going into that forest or exploring that cave or daring to step over the threshold of the derelict house on the corner? Was there a goal when you did that or was it just an instinctive need to explore? What was your reward for doing those things? The answer is 'nothing' because you wanted to find something you had never seen before. This game is designed with that kid in mind.

It's in us all but games have made people forget our basic instict to find joy and happiness in 'not knowing'. The unknown is far more enlightening than the known and infinitely more interesting. I understand this game and embrace its premise because I still love that forest, that cave and that derelict house. If none of what I've just said means anything to you then buy another game because this isn't for you.
