the Gamecube had a great library
Fire Emblem, ton of Resident Evil's and the best RE of that generation (RE4), Eternal Darkness, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin (New IP), Paper Mario, Animal Crossing (New IP), TWO Zelda's (even if one was on the Wii too), Two Star Fox Games (even if they were not the best), Metroid Prime (the Wii U will likely not see a mainstream Metroid at all), Mario Kart DD, Super Smash Melee, F-Zero GX, Pokemon Games (Gale of Darkness), and some great unique 3 party ports (Ikaruga, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, etc.)
the Wii U is nowhere near close to that at this point
