Don't think FF7 remake was anything to brag about. They took 5 years for FF13 and FF15 has taken what 10 years now?

For me what stole the show was the sheer number of games, especially Uncharted 4 and Shenmue 3.

FF13-2 and FF13-3 both only took 2 years.
Might be able to make it quicker than one would expect, particularly since the game is basically complete.

Unfortuantely the quality of FF13-2 and FF13-3 is quite widely disputed. So while it took them two years, these games seemed more like cash grabs.

FF7 is a welcomed return, but they're proposing this before FF15 has been given a release date. Even then I expect at least 2 years between a release for FF15 and FF7. Then you have to take into account it FF15 might not be released until 2016 or 2017, by the time FF7 comes outs it will be the end of the generation again, and they might move it ot PS5.

The only salvation is like you said they have everything sorted out in terms of what content they want, and PS4 and X1 are easy to develop for, unlike PS3 which was a nightmare to develop FF13. So hopefully they can get it done in just a few more years.
