This direct made it look like Nintendo has absolutely nothing to offer on their systems and that's not true in any way. The greatest advantage of this format is that Nintendo can get rid of useless fluff, bad pacing and fake applauds, and focus entirely on showing games. More in-depth demonstrations and interviews with developers can then be shown at the Treehouse event. This year Nintendo did the exact opposite of what they should have done, by including a ton of boring talk and leaving out upcoming games. The transformation theme wasn't bad but they should also have used it to promote the diversity of their upcoming line-up. Have a 3DS split up into three parts, each one transforming into Link and then show of the new Zelda game. A Wii U transforms into a haunted mansion and then you get a Fatal Frame trailer. And so on and so forth...Sure, it's meaningless but it would look cool! |
True, the problem wasn't the game but the conference itself. Less fluff more games, no more pre E3 Directs unless the E3 has enough. I think nintendo understands what the problem is and will make next year better.
