Then why are a lot of devs got fearful doing something different last gen? They know Playstation has the best audience for all genres but without the marketshare it had during PS1/PS2, they couldn't count on it to bring profits. Most probably, lots of devs were making games based on the common denominator on 360 which is the shooter/open world action types audience. The only thing it did was hurt the industry with lots of smaller studios closing down chasing that AAA dream when they could still make money on niche titles not needing that much bombast anyway.

but that was also the denominator on PS3, and the two biggest games at the conference are COD and Destiny if we talk sales wise...  Devs make those because they are the most popular.

Edit: In fact three with Star wars battlefront.

Except the market cannot support 2009988993(exaggerated) shooters last gen or even this gen.

Just take this for an example, Knack was considered a critical failure yet it outsold games like Sunset Overdrive that has open world/shooter even though Knack's which is platformer and probably the most commercially unviable genre in gaming this gen.
